Originally called The Buckwood Inn, the seasonal resort was designed and constructed by C.C. Worthington, a wealthy Pennsylvania engineer and business owner, in 1910 and 1911. As a testament to Worthington's engineering savvy, he chose to build the Inn out of an innovative substance - concrete - and craftsmen constructed floors and walls of 12-inch thick cement. A year before his death at age 91, Worthington sold the Inn to famous entertainer Fred Waring in 1943. Waring renamed the resort The Shawnee Inn and upheld the Inn's status as a seasonal, exclusive retreat. To this day, it's one of the Pocono's most famous and comfortable resorts, and the golf is quite the experience.

Completed in 1907, the golf course at the Shawnee Inn is A.W. Tillinghast's first-ever design. Rich in the history of golf, Shawnee has been the host of the 1938 PGA Championship, the 1967 NCAA Championships and other memorable moments in the chronicles of golf. Shawnee is still graced with the same magnificent trees, the same picturesque mountains, the same beautiful river and the same love of the game. With 24 of our 27 holes located on Shawnee Island, there is simply nothing like playing a round of golf at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort.The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort is only 75 miles from Pennsylvania City on I-80.

Daily itinerary for Resort Golf Schools of America: Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort

• 9:00 -12:00: Practice stations for personal lessons with your PGA professional. We will also video tape your swing for a take home teaching analysis.
  
• 12:00 - 12:45: Lunch
  
• 12:45 - 3:00pm: On course play with your PGA Professional.
  
• 3:00 pm: Unlimited Golf
