8-year-old battles rainy, windy conditions to claim PGA Golf Club Invitational title

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Alice Hodge of Larchmont, N.Y., captured a narrow victory in the Girls 8 division at the U.S. Kids Golf PGA Golf Club Invitational. Hodge entered the final two holes with a one-stroke deficit to Kennedy Anne Noe of Knoxville, Tenn., but two key shots down the stretch vaulted her to the top.

Hodge drained a downhill 12-footer on No. 8 and almost drove the green on No. 9 to secure an easy par. She finished the tournament at 6-over-par 78, one stroke ahead of Noe.

"It was really exciting to win my first Regional," Hodge said after her round. "Being able to play with my good friend Kennedy made it so much fun."

Noe followed in second place at 7-over-par 79, while Ariel Gonzalez of Mexico finished in third, nine behind Hodge.

The PGA Golf Club Invitational is one of six Regional Championships on the 2011 U.S. Kids Golf calendar. The tournament was held October 8-9, 2011, at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla., and featured 288 players from 31 states and 10 countries. The Girls 8 division played two 9-hole rounds on the Ryder Course at 1,581 yards.
